Backlight Keypad, also called backlit keypad or ambient light keypad, which is made of elastomeric transparent (translucent ) silicone rubber materials, make the best of keypad materials characteristics and combimed with LED  lighting in aim to produce a good back lighting effects of switch products.
Some backlight keypad is made of plastic and metal etc. This mainly talking about silicone rubber backlight keypad.

Featured Backlight Keypad , not only take full advantage of translucent or transparent silicone rubber materials characteristics, but also make full use of keypad's surface process to improve keypad backlight effects and quality. Like Laser Etched, Screen Printing, Color Spraying Coating, PU Coating, Matte Surface Treatment etc.

Following is some types of silicone rubber backlight keypad:
1. Laser Etched Backlight Keypad
Laser etched backlight keypad which mostly need color spraying coating after finished basic silicone keyads of compression molding production, and then do laser etching process to get back lighting effects. After finished laser engraving, most silicone backlight keypad also need PU coating or surface smooth treatment ( matte smooth processing) to protect color spraying coated layer and legends for avoiding light leak and improving back-light effects quality.

Actully, color spraying coating and PU coating which is key to laser etched backlight keypad quality and price.
Notes: PU coated process which can't rework, will cause keypad price is high.

Too thin color spraying coating is easy to cause light leak.
Too thick color spraying coating will cause that result keypads sizes is too big to suit products assembly
Notes: The legends color should have a high contrast with the spray coating color

2. Transparent Silicone Backlight Keypad (or called translucent silicone backlight keypad)
1. )Translucent Silicone Backlight Keypad take full advantage of silicone original materials which is translucent or transparent. Different silicone is different transparency. Generally, more better silicone materials, the color is more transparent. The original color of liquid silicone is almost transparent. However, for adjust led light source, some customers would like to add different toners ratios. Like translucent silicone 4x4 button pads.

One is more transparent: This one make silicone or plastic covers tooling to protect the translucent parts and then do two layers sprayer coating.
The other is less transparent, which choose mixed color process way to produce translucent silicone backlight keypad.
First one is more expensive as more processing. Second is not enough ambient light effects.

2. )Silk Screen Printing Backlight Keypad,
Backlight keypad, generally, need spray painted before do font or symbol printing on the surface, and the do PU coating process to protect the legends. However, Silk Screen Printing Backlight Keypad, which needn't do spray coating process. For better backlight legends effects, sometimes, also needn't do PU coating or UV+PU coating, just choosing more transparent silicone materials to produce is ok.
