Neoprene combines good physical properties with oil resistance, heat and flame resistance, sunlight, ozone, acid and alkali resistance and general chemical resistance. Few elastomers cover that many boxes in one compound.
Tensile strength, elongation, reversible crystallinity and adhesion are all good. Ageing resistance, heat and oil resistance and chemical resistance are excellent.
Its weak points are cold tolerance and storage stability, neither of which is very good.
