Silicone Oxygen Mask, also known as Total Face Mask, Full Face Mask, Respiratory Mask, Breathing Mask, etc, which are made from Medical Grade Silicone or Medical Grade Liquid Silicone by compression mold or Liquid Silicone Injection Molding. Total Face Mask is used to deliver Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) to patients (more than 66 pounds or 30 kilos) in the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). It is an alternative to traditional full-face masks, sealing around the perimeter of the face where patients have less pressure sensitivity and smoother facial contours.

Generally, for simple structure silicone protective face mask without high quality requirements, compression molding is OK for production. In this way, compression mold tool cost is much cheaper than LSR Injection Mold. Usually the compression mold tool cost is 3000-4500USD. While for silicone mask with high quality requirements, can only choose liquid silicone injection mold, but liquid silicone injection mold will be much high than compression mold.

Silicone Oxygen Mask Production Process

Silicone Oxygen Mask Plastic Frame is overmolded with the soft LSR Cushion.

Before overmold, plastic frame edge surface need to be coated with glue. Glue Primer is another key element in silicone cushion to plastic frame bonding process. Before silicone overmolding, silicone cushion and plastic frame adhesive compatibility should be analyzed first, and then decide which glue is best for both different material combination. Overmolding plays an important role in mechanical bonding, but glue primer has an effect on chemical bonding. Under overmolding temperature, glue adhered silicone cushion and plastic frame together and silicone cushion at the same time encapsulate or cover the plastic inserts. Physical bonding and glue bonding occurs in overmold process, and make finished parts bonding together.

 

After glue primer is applied to plastic frame surface, put the plastic frame into the mold for overmolding.
